You can reach Helnessund from Bodø by taking the coastal boat that goes from Bodø harbor passing Steigen (Helnessund, Nordskot, Bogen) on its way to Svolvaer in Lofoten. https://reisnordland.no/

It takes about an hour by coastal boat from Bodø to Helnessund. (it does not take cars)
Other ways to get here is by car. It takes 3,5 hours to drive from Bodø to Helnessund in Steigen.
There is a small conveinience store, a pub/restaurant/café a gas station where you can rent a car.
This is a kayakers paradise. The archipelago makes it perfec to paddle between the many islands with white beaches and clear turqouse water.
Free diving is also something you can do here.
You can also book an archipelago safari or book a guide or do deep sea fishing.
There is also a fishing industri by the dock where you can buy fresh fish. (step up the steps on the backside of the yellow house and ask for Atle)
Because of its perfect location in the Vestfjord (Western fjord) you can catch halibut, cod, polloc, haddock, redfish, monkfish.
You can either rent a boat and go fishing, or hop onboard one of the local fishing boats and go fishing.
Or go on an eagle safari.
During the summer months you are able to fish 24 hours a day. Fishing in the midnight sun is an unforgettable experience.
