Slow TV, is the new thing.

Calm, relaxing walk in nature, without fast cuts or pumping music, just nature and quiet for the soul. Upp here in Northern Norway the sun never sets and even on a rainy night like this it is still candy for the soul.

Steigen is a beautiful place off the beaten path that not many forign tourists know of. Most tourists go to Lofoten or Helgeland Coast, but there are some hidden gems out there and I will show them to you.

But today we start in Steigen.

Svartisen- glacier (The Black ice)

If you are thinking of visiting Norway, you should definetly visit "Svart Isen glacier"

This majestic glacier is located in the municipalities of Beiarn, Meloy, Rana and Rodoy Nordland county in Norway. From Bodö you can take Kystriksveien (FV17) South, down the coast.

Svartisen is a collective term for two glaciers, separated by the 1 kilometre (0.62miles) long Vesterdalen valley. They are part of Saltfjellet-Svartisen National Park, located in the Saltfjell Mountain range.

There is a boat shuttleservice over the Holand Fjord from the end of May until the beginning of September. The boat ride takes about 10 minutes, and the boat departs from Holandsvika right next to FV 17.

You take the boat over and when you get there you can either walk or rent a bycykle. The walk from the boat to the glacier is 3 km (6km roundtrip) so a bike is not a bad idea.

When you get there and walk about 1.5km you get to Brestua, a restaurant and motel.

You follow the road to the mountain and then the path.

There are chaines to hold onto for safety.

It is steep …

Especially if you are afraid of heights … like me.

Norway is almost all coast and the roads are narrow and old.

So of course there are many boat enthusiasts here.

In Kjerringöy about one hour drive from Bodö you can see these boats once a year.

In 2016 I was lucky to see these old boats in Kjerringoy Harbour.
